and Mr Roman Bieda - President of the Board of the Foundation AI Law Tech Foundation,

Katarzyna Lachowicz - Director of Business & Science Poland in Brussels She said: “Artificial intelligence is one of the important economic areas and part of a certain technological race. It is an area that is important from the point of view of economic and digital security, especially in the new geopolitical context, but which has not yet found a well-established place in legal regulations. #AIAct is the EU's first legislative initiative in this area, but third countries have also taken up the challenge of regulating AI solutions. The AI Act is currently being negotiated by the European Parliament, the European Commission and the Council of the European Union in a trilogue process. This is the final stage of the legislative process.”
Opening the discussion, Director Lachowicz referred to the words of EC President Ursula von der Leyen in September's State of the EU address: “Artificial intelligence should develop in a transparent, responsible and human-centred manner”. She also referred to the opinion of scientists and AI specialists quoted by the President, who say that artificial intelligence is also a threat to humanity on the same social scale as a pandemic or nuclear war, and therefore requires urgent global action.
In her speech, Lachowicz also stressed that an important aspect of not only the regulation on AI, but of any EU regulation, is to ensure the preservation of the competitiveness of European companies on global markets and to support their development by creating favorable conditions for this.
