Published on 15 December 2021 by the European Commission, the package of legislative proposals on hydrogen consists of:
The Hydrogen and Low Emission Gas Package supports the European Green Deal and its main objective is to establish a hydrogen market, create an appropriate environment for investment and enable the development of special infrastructure, including trade with non-EU countries, and create conditions for the transition from fossil natural gas to renewable and low-carbon gases, in particular biomethane and hydrogen, and to strengthen the resilience of the system of course.
The European Commission's proposals were the subject of a consultation process by the European Commission, in which Bussines and Science took an active part. In the next step, the European Commission will draw up a summary of all opinions received and then present them to the European Parliament and the Council as a contribution to the legislative debate.
