Yesterday we had the pleasure of attending an event organized by IDEAS NCBR entitled “Science or fiction? How artificial intelligence is changing science.” The meeting brought together eminent experts such as Prof. Aleksander Madry (OpenAI, Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Prof. Andrzej Dragan (University of Warsaw, National University of Singapore) and Prof. Piotr Sankowski (IDEAS NCBR, University of Warsaw), who during a conversation moderated by Krystyna Rappe-Niemirska (IDEAS NCBR) discussed key issues related to the role of artificial intelligence intelligence in the development of science and technology.
The strategic importance of investing in AI for countries that want to play an important role in the international arena is highlighted. Prof. Mądry drew attention to the need for significant financial investments and the development of a national AI strategy, following the example of France. He also noted that AI is accelerating progress in other areas of technology, making it an essential part of the modern economy. As Prof. Wise said, “Any country that wants to matter culturally, economically and militarily must have a strong AI.
As Business & Science Poland, we see the great importance of supporting the development of AI by the governments of EU countries. We know that active involvement in this process will contribute to strengthening Poland's position in the international arena and will benefit both science and the economy.
